Shaker Historical Society

Help us help interns and senior project students to learn about local history, museum, library and gallery professions!

Help us build a fund to enable us to better care for the objects in our collection - AND to be able to purchase items that may become available in future!

The 1917 American LaFrance pumper is 100 years old this year! Help us restore this one-of-a-kind piece of Shaker Heights history! Shaker's First Firetruck!

For programs and exhibits we produce in the community and at our museum, the Annual Fund does wonders to keep this place going.

We need to prepare for the future to ensure the long term care of our collections and the Myers Mansion! Help us build an endowment that pays US back in dividends!

Do you expect a historian to be a web developer too? Do you appreciate the high tech needs of your museum? Well, we could use help in hiring IT professionals to help us!

If you would like to leave a legacy to the Shaker Historical Society in your will, we can help you do just that! Some members and friends have left stocks and annuities in their wills, while others have stated in lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to us. We appreciate any donation and will be happy to meet with you to discuss any legacies or possible named funds.

Our collection policy allows us to accept items that are NOT duplicates, add to our ability to tell the Shaker Heights story, and are in good condition that we can maintain. If you have something that helps us tell a story or that we can sell to raise money for our collection - we would like to hear from you!

Shown here are 19th century farming antiques from the Dr. & Mrs. David Youngs Collection.

Stocks or other Assets

We value every penny we receive to help us carry out our mission to inspire people to engage in and celebrate the Shaker Heights story and its impact on the region... past, present and future.

NOW we need help even more to maintain this 1910 mansion, develop our educational programming with Shaker Schools and ensure the conservation of important collections. If you seek to give to support a particular type of activity, please consider giving to these six options.
