"The Courtship & Marriage of James & Lucretia Garfield" presented by Debbie Weinkamer

Sunday, July 19, 2020

2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

President and Mrs. James A. Garfield’s relationship was typical of others in the 19th Century. However, there were some glitches along the way that might surprise you.

Through Lucretia’s own words, you’ll learn how she crossed paths with James Garfield of Orange Township and their lengthy courtship, along with tales about high- and low-points during their 22-year marriage. Children – and politics – are woven into the First Lady’s story.

The presentation includes greeting attendees and a 40-minute program followed by a question-and-answer session. Photo opportunities are available throughout the visit.

Tickets are $5 and include museum admission. Children under 6 and Shaker Historical Society/Ohio History Connection members are free.
